JAMMU, June 13: Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) J&K Chapter elected a new governing body with Dr Meena Sidhu, Prof & Head, Blood Centre GMC as Chairman, Dr Ruby Reshi , Principal,GMC, Baramulla as vice chairman, Dr Navneet Kaur general secretary, Dr Parwinder Singh as Treasurer, Dr Ankush Bhargava and Gurdeep Singh as Executive members.
Newly formed body of ISBTI J&K Chapter organized it’s first event, an online seminar.
Topic of the online seminar was “Stretegies to Improve Voluntary Blood Donation in J&K amid COVID- 19 pandemic”.
Dr Meena Sidhu discussed the challenges faced by the blood banks and how to overcome them during COVID crisis. Dr T R Raina emphasized the need of regular repeat donor for safe blood and how yogic way of life can motivate for voluntary blood donation.
Anil Padha discussed the role played by NGO in voluntary blood donation. Coordinators of Youth voluntary blood donor organizations Atul Sharma from BJP Yuva Morcha, Vishal Arora from J&K Donors, Puneet Mahajan from Sanskriti Vichar Manch and Baljeet Singh from Guru Nanak Langer Mission also shared their views and emphasized the need of creating awareness among the masses for voluntary blood donation.
The event was coordinated by Dr Niti Dutt and was moderated by Dr Navneet Kaur General Secretary ISBTI J&K Chapter.
