Isolate black sheep: Lal Singh to medicos

SRINAGAR, Aug 20: Asking medicos to work with dedication and missionary zeal, the Minister for Health & Medical Education, Choudhary Lal Singh today called upon them to isolate the black sheep who are hell bent upon defaming this noble profession.
“There are very good doctors in our Health Department,  whose only aim is to serve the people, but there are some medicos who  are bringing bad name to the whole system,” the Minister said while addressing 5th Annual Conference of the J&K State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (JAKASI) at Government Dental College, Srinagar today.
The Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiya Naqash was also present on the occasion.
The conference, organised by Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir was attended by chairman and secretary  of JAKASI, Director  Health Services Kashmir, Directors of NHM, Family Welfare, DG ISM, Principal of GMC, Srinagar, Medical Officers of Kashmir and a  galaxy of surgeons, and researchers.
The theme of the conference was “Evolving Safe Surgical Practices” in the system.
Lal Singh said the health sector is expanding to a greater extent day by day and there is vast infrastructure in the shape of multi-storied buildings, laboratories equipped with latest machineries and above all expert and professional manpower, but still, there is dearth of something somewhere, which needs to be taken care of.
Speaking on the occasion, Asiya Naqash appreciated the organisers for holding the conference and called for organising more such events. She stressed upon the medical fraternity to promote safe surgical skills in the State. She asked Director Health Services Kashmir to register all suggestions of the participants at the conference so that the same could be incorporated in the system.
On the occasion, hospital newsletter and souvenir were released by the Ministers.
Later, the Ministers distributed mementoes, certificates and cash awards among the doctors who showed outstanding performance in different fields.
