Issue fixed match: Omar

SRINAGAR, May 20: Suspecting that fresh debate between ruling PDP and BJP on issuance of passport to hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani is a ‘fixed match’, NC working president Omar Abdullah said Geelani was issued passport in 2011 and there was no big deal now. Geelani has applied for a passport to visit his ailing daughter, married to a Kashmiri living in Saudi Arabia.
Mr Abdullah, who was Chief Minister of the State in 2011 when Mr Geelani was issued a passport to undertake Hajj pilgrimage along with his wife. “What’s the big deal? Geelani declined to avail a passport in 2011 so why is Mehbooba suddenly trying to appear as some sort of crusader?”, Mr Abdullah tweeted.
He added that “If he could get a passport in 2011 there was no reason he could not get one in 2015. He’s happy to travel on an Indian passport & citizenship.” I completely fail to understand why BJP would object to Geelani calling himself an Indian unless this is a PDP-BJP fixed match!!!!, the tweet said.
