Issue notices to defaulters of rent: JDA VC

JAMMU, Mar 13; A meeting regarding targets and achievements of rent collection in Jammu Development Authority was held today under the chairmanship of Vice Chairperson JDA, Sushma Chauhan.
All the Rent Collectors of JDA along with Tehsildar Zone-A & B, Executive Engineer, Division No I/II, Financial Advisor & CAO, Secretary and Director Land Management were present in the meeting.
The Rent Collector wise progress was discussed in detail and it was impressed upon all the Rent Collectors to improve recovery position. It was brought to the notice of Vice Chairperson JDA that out of Rs 7,33,65,468 outstanding amount against different defaulters, an amount of Rs 3,94,22,226 has been recovered  up to ending February, 2014.
The Secretary JDA was asked to provide the details of allotments made by JDA to the respective Tehsildars within a week to update the data so that recovery proceedings are initiated against the defaulters. The Tehsildars Zone-A & B were directed to issue the notices to the defaulters under Land Revenue Act.
She emphasized that the performance of the Rent Collectors and Tehsildars would be reflected in their APRs and appreciation letter would be given to the Rent Collectors, who would make maximum recovery.
The Vice Chairperson JDA also stressed upon the defaulters to come forward voluntarily to deposit the outstanding amount of rent so that revenue is generated and developmental activities are initiated in the interest of public. She also directed for taking review meeting on the issue on April 12.
Meanwhile, in compliance to the directions of High Court in PIL tiled Amit Dalia Vs State and Ors, the enforcement wing of JDA headed by Chief Khilafwarzi Officer Narinder Singh under the supervision of Sushma Chauhan, Vice Chairperson carried out anti-encroachment drive by removing plinth being raised on land/road by Thoru Ram and Ravi Kumar in Nidhesh Vihar Colony in Chowdhi area.
They had violated the provisions of Jammu Master Plan 2021. The anti-encroachment drive was carried out in the presence of SHO Channi Himmat under the guidance of SSP Jammu.
The Vice Chairperson has appealed the public to desist from falling prey to the offers of flats/plots by colonizers or builders who are floating the advertisements in the newspapers or otherwise inviting applications from people, without obtaining proper permission for the area within JDA limits.
