JAMMU, Nov 6: Bringing relief to people, the long-standing issue of stamp duty in property transaction has been finally resolved by the administration thus allowing the attachment of previously paid stamp duty on power of attorney document to the new sale deeds.
This was confirmed by a Government spokesperson, who said that all the pending cases were being cleared on priority.
Pertinent to mention that the latest Government software was not earlier supporting the provision of attaching previously paid stamp duty on power of attorney documents to new sale deeds resulting into pending of property transaction cases and thus causing harassment to people as well as revenue loss to Government.
The Excelsior had exclusively highlighted this issue following which noted social activist and former general secretary of Jammu Chamber of Commerce, Gourav Gupta had vigorously pursued the matter before Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and the concerned department.
According to a Government spokesperson, the matter has been resolved and the registration portal is now supporting the required provision to attach previously paid stamp duty on power of attorney documents to new sale deeds.
