JAMMU, Dec 12: Dissatisfied with the slow pace of work on upcoming Income Tax Colony at Resham Ghar, Commissioner Income Tax, J&K Circle, A K Thatai today paid a visit to the site and issued necessary directions to the project executing agency for speedy completion of work.
The NBCC Ltd had taken up the project and the scheduled deadline to handover the colony to the department was December 2013. However, deadline could not be met.
Flanked by Rakesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Mini Chandran U, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (HQ), Jammu and some other officials of the Department dealing with the matter, Commissioner of Income Tax conveyed his displeasure over undue delay and exhorted Mohd Rafiq, Additional General Manager of NBCC Ltd to fasten the pace so that project could be completed in another six months.
The representatives of NBCC assured the Commissioner that the new deadline would definitely be met with. The Commissioner and his team of senior officers also inspected the quality control register being maintained by NBCC to ensure that only quality material is used in construction.
It may not be out of place to mention that the Commissioner of Income Tax is taking personal interest so that the Income Tax officers working in Jammu region may be comfortably accommodated in the colony.
Amongst other welfare projects which have come up for the general public during the recent period in Income Tax Department include big and posh ASK centre in Aayakar Bhawan and also a passenger lift in the Income Tax office complex.
