IT Deptt conducts surveys in Kathua

JAMMU, Dec 4: Income Tax Department today conducted surveys in the premises of two businessmen in Kathua and laid hands on several incriminating documents establishing evasion of tax.
Sources said that on the basis of specific information a team of Income Tax Department J&K Circle started surveys in the premises of Baba Sidh Goria Aluminium Works and Jai Baba Lal Dyal Steel Industry owned by Baba Dutta and Anoop Gupta in Police Lines area of Kathua this morning.
During the surveys, which continued till late this evening, the taxmen laid hands on several documents establishing suppressing of income and subsequent investment of the same in the real estate business.
These businessmen were also involved in sale-purchase of properties on commission basis and large number of agreements to sell were also recovered from their premises. “The detailed scrutiny of the impounded documents will be conducted in the coming days to workout exact quantum of tax evasion”, sources said.
