JAMMU, Jan 6: The 7th meeting of the Board of Governors of JaKeGA was held here today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey.
The Board of Governors approved various proposals of the IT Department for IT enablement of the Prisons Department, Courts and Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council. The DPRs of the proposals have been sent to the Union Government for release of funds and once the funds are released the projects will be implemented by JaKeGA.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary asked the JakeGA to speed the process of finalising bidders for undertaking IT enabling of various Government departments to bring speed efficiency, reliability and accountability in the overall system of Government functioning.
Detailed deliberations were held on the State Wide Area Network (SWAN) Scheme which aims to establish a secured Government data network. SWAN will provide vertical and horizontal connectivity to Government offices in the State through suitable links and will be designed to cater to the information and communication requirements of all the departments.
It was decided in the meeting that the IT Department should initiate the tendering process on Build Own Operate Transfer (BOOT) basis.
Earlier, Commissioner Secretary Information Technology Bipul Pathak gave a presentation highlighting the progress of various e-governance projects underway in the State.
