*JMC regularises 535 sanitation workers

JAMMU, Jan 18: In a significant development Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma today regularised 535 sanitation workers of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), by fulfilling his promise to settle the long pending issue of the workers.
He handed over the regularization orders to all the workers at a function held in Town Hall of JMC.
It may be recalled that Mayor during a press conference in November last year had promised regularization of sanitation workers working in the civic body of Jammu which was a long pending demand of these casual employees.
He had issued directions to the JMC authorities for issuing notice under clause (3) of Regulation 10 of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Class –IV service (special provisions) Regulation, 2014 for seeking objections.
In pursuance to the directions of Mayor Jammu, a Committee was constituted and the objections were sought. After completing all the process and approval from the Administrative Department, the sanction has been accorded for regularization of 535 sanitation workers.
Mayor, Rajinder Sharma while handing over orders to these casual workers during a function at Town Hall said this was one of most awaited decision for which these hapless employees were waiting for the last many years. “It is nothing less than a New Year’s gift for these employees’’, said Mayor in his address.
He said this decision has restored sanitation workers hopes for a bright future also.
Mayor congratulated all 535 sanitation workers who were regularized today after completion of seven years of their services in JMC.
Sanitation Workers Union complimented Rajinder Sharma for taking personnel interest in settling this long pending issue. The jubilant workers expressed their humble gratitude to the Mayor for this great decision saying that had Sharma been at helm of affairs earlier, this issue would have been settled since. They also complimented the administration.
Sanitation Workers Union assured Mayor that they will work with zeal and dedication.
The Mayor also assured them that he is with them as they are the soul of the system. He said that without the support of the Safai Saathis, the victory would have been unachievable. He further added that as we move forward, all problems of the sanitation workers would be solved efficiently.
