IT Ombudsman holds interactive session

JAMMU, June 25: A K Manchanda, Income Tax Ombudsman Chandigarh, who is also having jurisdiction over Jammu and Kashmir, today interacted with the representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Associated Chamber of Traders Federation, Jammu Chapter of NIRC and Income Tax Bar Association.
During the course of interactive session, various issues leading to grievances of the tax payers were put forth. The main issue was pertaining to the delay in issuing of refunds due to system related shortcomings. The participants were given patient hearing by the Ombudsman, who issued on the spot directions to the officers for early settlement of grievances of the tax payers.
Prominent among those who attended the interactive session included Y V Sharma, president CCI, Y P Gupta, president Associated Chamber of Traders Federation, V K Grover, general secretary Income Tax Bar Association and Vikram Garg, Vice-Chairman NIRC Jammu.
The Ombudsman was accompanied by B B Singh, Commissioner (Appeals) Jammu, R K Kakkar, Joint Commissioner, Mahavir Singh, Joint Commissioner, Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner (Hqrs) and all ITOs.
