JAMMU, Sept 27: An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Indian Tibet Border Police (ITBP) was found dead this morning in his room at Van Bhawan near Rail Head Complex.
“The deceased was identified as ASI Jaswant Singh, resident of Una in Himachal Pradesh,” a police official said, adding he had a bullet injury on his body. He said the bullet was fired from the service rifle of his colleague but it is a matter of investigation whether the deceased shot self or it was done by some other.
The police official said that the deceased belonged to 42nd Battalion of ITBP and was presently staying with other ITBP personnel at Van Bhawan. He said that the body of the deceased ASI was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu and after postmortem handed over to the ITBP authorities.
