LEH, Jan 13: The Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) 16th Battalion organised Bharat Darshan educational tour for the students of Government Higher Secondary School Tangtse Durbuk.
The tour organised under its Civic Action Programme (CAP) was flagged off by 16th Battalion Commandant Ajay Singh in presence of other officer at ITBP Campus Choglamsar today.
As many as 68 students accompanied by two teachers participating in the tour will visits some important historical places in Delhi such as Red Fort, Qutab Minar, Parliament House, India Gate and Humayu Tomb. Most of the students from these remote villages will travel by aeroplane and train for the first time in their life and they will also visit Goa during the tour.
The aim of tour is to connect the people and children of remote border areas to rest of India and to enrich the knowledge of these students about Indian heritage culture and history. The tour also aimed to promote the spirit of National Integration, unity, social harmony and enhancing educational and intellectual development of the youths of this region. The initiative taken by ITBP will provide immense exposure to the students who are going out of Leh for first time.
Addressing the students, Commandant, 16th Battalion ITBP Ajay Singh said that ITBP have been organizing such tours for the border area students for the past two years and such tour will continue in future as well.
He said that purpose of tour is to provide an opportunity to the border area student to learn the culture diversity of Nation through such cultural exchange tour and ITBP intent to bring students from other regions to Ladakh during summer.
He said that children are future of this great Nation and every opportunity must be provided to learn many things along with the academic studies. He extended his best wishes to the students and teachers for fruitful completion of tour.
Earlier, presenting the welcome speech Deputy Commandant 16th Battalion Sukhbir Singh explained the motive of the tour.
The flag off ceremony was also attended by all members of 16th Battalion, Choglamsar, Leh.
