ITI employees project demands

JAMMU, Nov 19: All J&K ITI Employees United Front projected their burning issues in a convention held at ITI complex Canal Road here today.
The one day convention was held under the leadership of Nazir Ahmed Moulvi, State president of the Front while several senior Trade unionists and members of the Front from various districts including Kashmir province attended the programme.
Director Technical Education J&K, Shabnam Shah Kamili, Khan Farooq Dy Director State Board of Technical Education, Dy Director R K Gupta and Principal ITI  Jammu Rajinder Kumar also attended the programme.
During the convention Mr Nazir and other senior trade unionists projected the burning issues of the employees of the Technical Education departments and also threw light on the prevailing condition in various  such Institutes  in the State. They referred to the poor condition of many  buildings, including Jammu ITI, shortage of staff, filling up of vacant posts, non-conduct of DPC since long,  shortage of tools  in many workshops, auction of many non-serviceable items, affiliation/ re-affiliation of  NCVT trades enhancing skills of instructors etc.
Many suggestions were also given by the speakers attending this convention from various districts and tehsils. They also highlighted the problems being faced by the employees serving in various ITIs. They said that even the post of Joint Director is lying vacant since long. They also suggested to construct modern workshop at Jammu ITI, which is in dilapidated condition and declared unsafe.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the director with charter of demands. The Director Ms Kamili, assured the employees to solve their genuine issues within a fortnight. She also assured to take up the issue of repair and upgradation of the buildings with the higher authorities.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion included- Ghulam Hassan Bhat and Naresh Sharma vice presidents, Karan Singh and Din Mohd secretaries, Haji Parvez Iqbal Coordinator, Bhushan Khajuria, Randhir Singh and Raman Kumar and others.
