IUST receives license to launch community Radio Station

SRINAGAR, Jan 1: The Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) today received a license from the Ministry of Communication to establish a dedicated community radio station on its campus.
An IUST spokesperson announced that the IUST Community Radio Station, operating at FM 91.2 MHz, will serve as a vital platform to convey the university’s vision and mission, foster engagement with society, and promote community outreach.
The station will broadcast diverse programs, including campus news, admission updates, student-centric content, disaster awareness, environmental issues, and socio-economic topics, catering to a wide audience.
Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor of IUST, congratulated the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication for this significant accomplishment and extended special appreciation to Ruheela Hasan, Dean Outreach, for leading the initiative. “The Community Radio Station will pave the way for effective community outreach and further strengthen IUST’s connection with society,” Romshoo said.
He emphasized that the approval of the radio station reflects IUST’s dedication to community engagement and social responsibility.
