JAMMU, Dec 3: IVY Group of Hospitals has achieved a milestone of performing 1200 successful kidney transplants.
“IVY is performing all types of living donor transplants, including high risk transplants, pediatric transplant swap cases, ABO incompatible transplants and redo transplants,” said Dr Avinash Srivastava, Director of Urology and Renal Transplant said while briefing media persons.
Nephrologist Dr HK Imran Hussain said that hypertension, diabetes, BPH, untreated kidney stones and UTI are the main causes of kidney failure in India and every year 2.2 lakh new patients develop chronic kidney failure in our country.
Dr Paras Saini, Consultant Urology and Renal Transplant, said that the prevalence of this disease has almost doubled in the last decade, and it is becoming more prevalent due to the increase in risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity, stress and unhealthy eating habits.
