Ivy Hospital completes 3000 cardiac surgeries

JAMMU, July 11: Ivy Hospital, Amritsar today announced the completion of 3000 successful cardiac surgeries.
The announcement in this regard was provided by Dr. Pankaj Goel senior director CTVS here today.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Goel said that we at Ivy are doing all kinds of cardiac surgeries including coronary artery by-pass surgery, beating heart surgery, valve replacement surgeries, aortic surgery, pediatric open and closed heart surgeries, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, lung & thoracic surgery besides all kinds of vascular surgeries.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh Gill senior consultant cardiac anesthesia said, “In India about 30 million people suffer from coronary artery disease with 27 % of all deaths are related to cardiovascular diseases. The country will soon have the highest number of cases of cardiovascular diseases in the world. Heart diseases has escalated among the younger generation with a significant risk in both males and females. Many younger Indians are suffering from coronary artery disease, owing to their poor lifestyle, and if this continues the future looks even more dangerous.”
He also gave some tips to reduce heart disease risk included, don’t smoke, know your risks-hypertension, diabetes & cholesterol as these are silent killers, maintain healthy weight, exercise regularly, eat less saturated fat, more produce and more fiber, get your lipids checked and avoid Trans fats, avoid or consume alcohol in moderation, go for annual preventive health packages, manage your stress by yoga and meditation and know your homocysteine levels.
