JAC gives ‘Jammu Chalo call’

RAJOURI, Mar 14: While bandh in Nowshera town continued on 27th consecutive day today in support of district status, the agitating JAC members after crucial meeting today gave `Jammu Chalo call on March 17′, the people at Kalakote held strong protest march and organized day long rally.
The people of Nowshera town and adjoining areas assembled at Patel Chowk main bazaar in the morning and held strong protest demonstration. After passing through various markets during protest march, they reached dharna site in the Tehsil complex. Many JAC members held strong protest in half-naked position. Several locals leaders addressed gathering and launched scathing attack on local leaders / legislators. The people raised slogans against local MLA and MLC besides BJP Ministers besides Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti and PDP Minister, Ch Zulfkar Ali.
Meanwhile, JAC Nowshera members in a crucial meeting held this afternoon decided to move to Jammu and conduct `Gherao’ of Civil Secretariat. They gave Jammu Chalo call for March 17. Thousands of people including women and children from various parts of Nowshera Sub Division will start their on-foot journey to Jammu via Sunderbani and Akhnoor, and shall reach Jammu on March 20. They will conduct Gherao of Civil Secretariat till their demands are met. They said the border people of Nowshera will lock their houses and hand over keys of the houses to the concerned Police Posts/ Police Stations or the concerned Army Battalion/ Company Commanders before leaving for Jammu.
Kalakote town also continued their indefinite bandh today, seeking separate ADC’s posting. Entire market remained closed in the town and the vehicles also remained off the road. The Kalakote JAC led by local leaders Randhir Singh Vijay Suri, Ashok Kumar and others took out strong protest march in the town and then moved to the Tehsil complex. They were raising slogans against local BJP and PDP ministers and rejected the Govt formula of rotational ADCs for Kotranka and Kalakote.
Former MLA Rashpal Singh from National Conference also joined protest march and dharna at Kalakote. He also addressed public gathering and criticized the present Government for its wrong decision. Singh said both BJP and PDP are responsible for the present situation in these towns. He said the Govt decision of rotational ADCs was not acceptable to the people. Sunderbani JAC has also decided to accord full support to Kalakote agitation.
