JAMMU, Feb 14: Joint Action Committee (General Category) has criticized J&K Reserved Category Empowered Alliance (JKRCEA) for its misinformation and smear campaign for getting reservation in promotions.
Members of JAC held a joint meeting, here today and alleged that office bearers of Reserved Category Empowered Alliance had gone to the extent of contempt of Supreme Court for getting their illegitimate demand fulfilled.
“Such self styled organizations have no concern for the down trodden class of society who are real sufferers of apathy due to their economic condition irrespective of their caste. It is completely illogical on their part to seek reservation in promotions when already the matter has been dealt in depth by the JK High Court as well as by the Supreme Court,” they said and added that the Supreme Court has clearly passed a speaking order in a similar matter of the Uttrakhand and held that State is not bound to give reservation in promotions.
“The State if at all feels it is willing to give, must have the criteria laid down in Nagraj Judgement which seeks for quantifiable data and inadequacy of representation in public domain which can assert the need for such reservation,” they further said.
The Joint Action Committee flayed the opinion of the Reserved Category Empowered Alliance for seeking fast promotion for similarly appointed persons of reserved categories vis a vis the General category employees. “ JKRCEA is seeking that a Junior Engineer appointed from Reserved category should be promoted to position of Executive Engineer on fast track basis even at the cost of sabotaging the promotion opportunity of Junior Engineer belonging to General category who remains on same post even though his counterpart from reserved category has been promoted to position of Executive Engineer,” JAC explained and strongly condemns such approach of the organizations, which are creating a divide in the society.
JAC reiterated that it shall fight tirelessly for the equality and justice for the masses and not let the fringe elements to sabotage the rule of law. The Joint Action Committee also appealed those occupying constitutional positions to desist from such approach and allow the law to take its own course.
Later, the JAC members also joined a protest demonstration against reservation in promotions.
