JAMMU, Oct 20: Joint Action Committee (JAC) of general category today demanded strict compliance of the Supreme Court order with regard to ‘ no reservation in promotions’.
In a meeting of the JAC held here at Brahman Sabha, Parade Ground under the chairmanship of Ved Prakash Sharma (president, Brahman Sabha) and also attended by Narayan Singh, President Rajput Sabha, Vinod Gupta, president Central Mahajan Sabha and other community and employees leaders including employees of various Government departments, the members sought strict compliance of the apex court orders. The meeting expressed strong resentment and called for strict compliance of Court orders of ‘status quo’ in the case of `No Reservation in Promotions’. It exhorted upon the Commissioner/ Secy PDD and all other concerned officers to honour the verdict of Supreme Court and the existing circular of GAD in this matter.
It is pertinent to mention that after 11 years of relentless struggle in J&K High Court and thereafter in the Supreme Court the justice has been met out to the general category incumbents.
Deserving candidate belonging to general category were made to stagnate at their current post by unconstitutional reservation in promotion rules.
The Joint Action Committee expresses anguish and dismay over the issue considering the fact that the High Court has quashed the reservation in promotion rules and the Supreme Court had directed to maintain status quo. The GAD circulars in vogue currently have also stated that no reserved category candidate should be promoted till the outcome of the writ petition in the Supreme Court.
Joint Action Committee unanimously resolved to appeal the top brass of Government to make efforts for speedy disposal of the case in the Supreme Court so that deserving general category candidates are benefitted after having been suffering from years. JAC will take the fight to streets and file contempt proceedings against the erring officers/Ministers if the directions of Supreme Court are flouted.
JAC expressed faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who has stood tall and always believed on the pillars of legal justice system and in this hour of turmoil in the state we are with her in bringing the state out of these tough times.
