Jagan files bail petition in CBI court, hearing on May 31

HYDERABAD, May 29: A day after YSR Congress Party Chief and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy was sent to a 14-day judicial remand, the counsel of Mr Jagan filed a bail petition in the Principal Special CBI court at Nampally here today.
Mr Jagan, in his petition, prayed the court to grant him bail by stating that he should campaign in support of YSR Congress party candidates contesting for the by-elections to 18 assembly constituencies and Nellore Lok Sabha seat to be held on June 12.
The court, which will take up the hearing on Mr Jagan’s bail petition on May 31, issued notices to the CBI to file the counter.
Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh High Court has allowed 40-year-old Jagan, who is currently lodged in a special category cell in Chenchalguda Central Jail, to file a ‘Quash petition’ seeking to cancel the 14-day judicial remand till June 11 granted by the CBI special court after he was arrested by the CBI in the disproportionate assets case.
The court also allowed the CBI to file a petition for the custody of Jaganmohan Reddy.
The CBI special court yesterday rejected the CBI plea for their custody of Jagan. (UNI)
