JAMMU, July 2: A meeting of Jagti inmates was held at Jagti township Nagrota today in which the difficulties faced the migrants were discussed.
The problems of contaminated water being supplied to the Jagti migrants, unnecessarily power cuts which have made their lives miserable, dilapidated condition of the streets, community halls, quarters, leakage of roofs and distribution of ration items for migrant relief holders and Government employees were highlighted by the members in the meeting.
They said that Government should solve the demands of migrants as soon as possible.
After the meeting a protest was held by all the members of Jagti township under the leadership of Shadi Lal Pandita president Jagti Tenement Committee, (JTC) Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K in which Shiv Parvati Panch Mandir Committee Jagti township, Mata Kheer Bhawani Committee Jagti, Kheer Bhawani Yatra Committee J&K also participated.
The other leaders who participated in the joint protest included Kaka Ji Bhan, Ravinder Raina, Raj Bali, Veer Ji Below, Bushan Lal, Ravinder Koul, Mohan Krishan Tickoo, Vinod Bhat, P N Koul, O N Raina, Shuban Krishan Raina, A K Dhar, Vijay Bakshi, Ramesh Suri, Mithan Pandita, Shadi Lal Koul, Subash Raina, R L Dhar etc.
Shadi Lal Pandita president JTC and SKF said that the Government has been doing injustice with the Kashmiri Pandit community for past ten years who are leading exiled life for last 34 years and their difficulties are increasing day by day.
Pandita has warned the state and Central Government to resolve the problems of Kashmiri Pandits migrants immediately who are facing many difficulties from last 34 years.
Pandita said that the relief holders are on protest for the last four years demanding hike in relief from Rs 13, 000 to Rs 25,000 because they can’t make their both ends meet in these tough times when the prices of essential commodities have touched heights.
Pandita demanded 20,000 jobs for Government jobs for displaced youth besides settlement of community in three townships in Kashmir valley.
