Jagti township inmates lack medicare, other facilities

JAMMU, May 25: The lack of medicare facilities in Jagti township has added to the woes of its inmates who are facing many hardships for the same.
Though the construction of 20 bedded hospital was taken up in hand over six years back but till date it has not seen the light of the day said the camp inmates.
According to one Makhan Lal an inmate of the township there is no ambulance to shift the patients to GMC in the event of emergency nor there is availability of Oxygen cylinders.
He said the delivery of gas is totally poor and home delivery system is not being followed by HP Gas Agency with the result old people are also forced to take the gas cylinder on their back up to a distance of half kilometer or so.
He said the entire waste from city and other parts is dumped in Jagti nullah which has added to health hazards and there is every apprehension that epidemic to grip the area if the same is not stopped.
Surinder Kumar a social activist said that the community leadership is not bothered for the same while the Relief Organization is also sleeping over the issue. He said no attention has been paid to solve the power problem in the camp and water is also supplied on alternative days.
The situation is very grave in the township and the Government does not bother to improve the same as in the absence of proper facilities the migrants putting up in the township have been left at the mercy of God.
