Jairam announces tablets to 400 JK youths

JAMMU, Apr 3: Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh today announced one tablet (mini-computer) each to 400 youths of the State who have completed one year of service in the companies they were engaged under Himayat.

“One tablet each will be given to 400 youths who have completed one year of service in the companies they were engaged under Himayat,” Mr Ramesh said while addressing the function under ‘Himayat’ programme at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium at University of Jammu here.

He said all the boys and girls completing one year service successfully in the companies would be provided tablets.

The Union Minister said the stipend of Rs 1000 per month for two months being provided to the placed youth in various companies has been enhanced to Rs 2000 per month for six months.

“The retention rate of youth in the private companies have also shown remarkable increase and at present stands at 76.42 per cent,” he added.

The scheme ‘Himayat’ launched in the State in 2011 is being taken ahead confidently to realise the set goal of providing trainings and jobs to one lakh youth of the State mostly school drop-outs and lesser qualified during the five year period.

“Over 5,000 youth have been provided jobs in various companies within and outside the State since the inception of the scheme in the State and over 15,000 would be given training and placements during the year 2013-14,” he added.

Mr Ramesh said under Mahila Shayita Samuh (MSS) Rs 800 crore will be incurred on socio-economic welfare and upliftment of women in the State adding that the scheme namely ‘Umeed’ has been launched in the State. (AGENCIES)
