NEW DELHI: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today assured top navy commanders that the government would focus on increasing defence spending to meet their growing requirements and said funds were no problem for acquisitions and upgradations.
Addressing the naval commanders meet here, Mr Jaitley said defence modernisation was one of the priorities of the Narendra Modi government which had assured that it would look into the needs of the defence forces. Replying to a question after his address on whether India would send troops to Iraq to rescue Indians trapped their, the Minister declined any comment and said he would not ‘speculate’.
