Jammu: The defence minister Arun Jaitley and the chief minister Mehbooba Mufti have condemned the killing of the young Kashmiri officer by the terrorist in Shopian. Defence minister said Lt. Ummer Fayaz was role model and termed his killing a dastardy act
“Abduction & murder of Lt. Ummer Fayaz by terrorists in Shopian is a dastardly act of cowardice. This young officer from J&K was a role model,” tweeted Arun Jaitley. He also tweeted : “We share the grief of family of Lt. Ummer Fayaz & stand in solidarity. Lt. Ummer Fayaz will continue to inspire youth from the Valley. Lt. Ummer Fayaz of 2RAJRIF was an exceptional sportsman, his sacrifice reiterates nation’s commitment to eliminate terrorism from the Valley.”
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti condemned the killing of Lt Umer Fayaz, a young Kashmiri Army officer from Kulgam.
“What was more painful to note is that the young officer had come home on vacation where he was attending the marriage of his cousin,”Mufti said in a statement.
The CM conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Lt Fayaz and prayed for his eternal solace.
Chief of the army staff said army salutes supreme sacrifice of Lt Fayaz and the army offers condolences to the bereaved family.
