MENDHAR, Aug 24: Senior National Conference leader and former MLA, Mendhar, Javed Ahmed Rana today lashed out at Jal Shakti Department for its complete failure to providing drinking water in Mendhar Sub-Division of district Poonch.
Addressing a press conference here today, Rana said that despite liberal funding, most of the Water Supply Schemes are lying defunct in Mendhar Sub-Division and this has created a lot of mess and inconvenience for the general public of the area.
Ex-MLA said there is absolutely no control whatsoever as the department has miserably failed to come up to the expectations of the public. He added that despite J&K LG setting deadline for piped drinking water to every household, the department has not even completed 10% of its allotted work in Mendhar.
He said villages like, Chhughan, Ari Kasab, Darana, Chajala, Gani, Naka Menjari, Selwah, Pathanatir and Behra Kasab besides many hamlets are without water as the WSS are totally non- functional in these areas.
Rana said the onus lies on LG’s administration to streamline the functioning of the department and ensure that the general public is not made to suffer.
“I would urge the Government to take this matter seriously and come up with a concrete plan to overcome this problem,” Rana said.
Rana was accompanied by senior party colleagues during press conference.
