Jambu Zoo invites public, others for adoption of animals

JAMMU, July 19: Jambu Zoo has invited the general public, organizations, companies of J&K and other State and UTs of India for adoption of different animals kept in the Zoo.
In a press conference here today Anil Atri, Additional Director Jammu Zoo said that interested persons, organizations and companies can adopt the animals for one month, six months or for one year by paying money for feed, fodder, feed supplement etc of the animals.
He said that such an amount has been notified by the Government per month as-Rs. 7000 for Lion, Rs. 3000 for Gora, Rs. 7000 for Tiger, Rs. 3000 for Hog Deer, Rs. 1000 for Crocodile, Rs. 3000 for Neelgai, Rs. 1000 for Gharial, Rs. 1000 for Porcupine, Rs. 3000 for Black Buck, Rs. 2500 for Leopard Cat, Rs. 6000 for Common Leopard, Rs. 2500 for Jungle Cat, Rs. 3000 for Black Bear, Rs. 1000 for Royal Snake, Rs. 3000 for Sambar, Rs. 1000 for Russel Viper, Rs. 3000 for Spotted Deer, Rs. 1000 for Python, Rs. 3000 for Barking Deer and Rs. 1000 for Indian Cobra.
The Additional Director Jammu Zoo further said that Jambu Zoo’s adoption campaign aims to foster a connection and to inculcate a sense of belongingness and pride among the citizens regarding wildlife and its conservation.
“Adopters will also receive an Adoption Membership Certificate,” he continued.
