Sir,
Airport at Jammu may be the only airport in the country where arriving passengers have to look for the Taxi stand to finally get directed to go outside the premises of airport. Surprisingly the huge area is available for parking of Private & VIP cars inside the airport premises. Most surprising and disgusting experience for the ordinary passenger is, when he is asked to off load the luggage from the trolley (provided by airport) by policemen, where from carrying luggage by hand upslope & rough road to a place on main road is not only annoying but most disgusting part of the travel. It is normal for a passenger to question the uniformed man who orders off loading the lugage from the trolley as how to carry the lugguage hereafter and reply is “ask airport authority.”
I have been facing this problem every time in past but some how used to manage it and at the same time would wonder how travelling people of Jammu turn a blind eye to this lack of basic facility and not questioning the authority concerned. This time me and my wife both Sr. citizens arrived at Jammu on Nov. 17, 2014 by Go flight 185 and could not carry the baggage upslope and uneven road by hand (after off loading it from the trolley) while uniformed men kept observing our struggle till an elderly women extended her hand in moving luggage. I request both airport authority of India and State Government to provide all basic facilities to all travelling passengers and not selectively and also realize the bad impact caused by callous attitude of the uniformed people on minds of tourist coming from various parts of the country to visit “City of Temples”.
Yours etc…
