Jammu bandh reflects people’s anger against BJP-PDP: Cong

JAMMU, May 29: Pradesh  Congress Committee today reviewed  the status of ongoing membership drive of the party and the current political situation in the State.
The meeting was held at party headquarters Shahidi Chowk and was attended by senior functionaries of the PCC, members of the executive, frontal heads and district presidents of Jammu province which was presided over by vice president and former Minister Mula Ram while former Minister and PCC vice president Raman Bhalla was also present.
The meeting was attended by vice presidents, PCC general secretaries , Members executive body,  secretaries and organizing  secretaries of PCC, District presidents and heads of Mahila Congress, INTUC, Seva Dal and Youth Congress.
The participants shared the inputs about the ongoing membership drive from different blocks and Assembly constituencies of all districts of Jammu province and the present status of the current membership drive as part of the membership all over the country. The participants sought more membership for various blocks and constituencies in view of good response from the grass- root level and requested for extending the time limit in this regard.
PCC president  Ghulam Ahmed Mir who was scheduled to arrive from Srinagar to preside over the meeting could not reach in time due to delay of the flight while  Sham Lal Sharma- sr vice president PCC was unable to attend the meeting because of ill health.  On the request of the party leaders, the PCC chief extended the date for the membership by 10 days and requested all concerned to deposit the membership by or before June 10, 2015.
Speaking in the meeting the senior leaders of the party asked the party functionaries and workers at the grass root level to accelerate the process of ongoing membership drive and enroll the maximum members in order to strengthen the secular and democratic forces in the State. They said people are getting agitated over the policies of BJP and PDP Government in the State. The people feel cheated by the betrayal of the BJP to its ideology and election promises. The party took  ‘U-turn’ on all important commitments and has made a ‘summersault’ for entering in to corridors of power. The two consecutive complete bandhs in Jammu region reflect the anger of the people who have rejected the policies of the unholy coalition in the State and the policies of the Centre Government.
Prominent among those who  attended the meeting included Suman Bhagat, Ravinder Sharma, Rajnish Sharma, Manohar Lal Sharma, Shabir Khan,  Swarn Lata, Manmohan Singh,  Shah Mohammad Choudhary,   Manjit Singh, Balwan Singh, Yogesh Sawhney, Vikram Malhotra,  Namrata Sharma, Faqir Nath, YV Sharma, Krishan Chander Bhagat, G L Chalotra, Shiv Dev Singh, Darshan Raina, Kuldip Raj Verma, MK Bhardwaj, Mohd  Aslam Goni, Iqbal Malik,  Indu Pawar (Mahila Cong), Shiv Kumar Sharma (INTUC),  Balwinder Singh Sambyal (Seva Dal); Pranav Shagotra (PYC);  , Ashok Sharma, Rajni Bala, Vijay Manhas, Shashi Sharma,  Ashwani Puri, Thomas Khokhar, Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina, Manjit Singh Jatt, Aradhana Andotra,  Pankaj Dogra, Nadim Sharief Niaz besides   president DCC Jammu (U) Anil Chopra, DCC Kathua chief Subash Gupta, DCC Kishtwar  Pardeep Singh Parihar and Ashok Gupta (DCC Udhampur).
