JAMMU, Mar 3: Commissioning of Musical Water Fountain with laser light and sounds in Bagh-e-Bahu, followed by laying of the foundation stone for Tawi River Front Development Project by the Lieutenant Governor in less than a week last month indicates that the Government is focussing on development of Jammu as a tourist destination.
This was claimed by J&K BJP spokesperson, Balbir Ram Rattan in a handout.
He said that it is true that although Jammu province has a lot of tourism potential but the same was never explored as the successive Kashmir-centric regimes had very less place for Jammu in their schemes and policies, particularly in matters of tourism.
Balbir said that BJP government at the Centre, under PM Modi has already given a number of mega projects to Jammu region for development of tourist spots along with numerous others meant for improving means of communication, infrastructure development, prestigious technical, academic and health institutions.
“Rejuvenation of River Devika in Udhampur and development of Mansar Lake are also going to prove multi-propose projects as the same will result in attracting a large number of tourists and increase religious pilgrimages besides boosting the local economy and creating jobs avenues,” he maintained.
