Sir,
Historically, politically, geographically and spiritually, Poonch town enjoys a unique importance. Lack of air service in this town some times proves a great bane for the residents of this hilly and border area of the State. At the time of natural calamities or any other types of road accidents if immediate air service is not available then the precious lives are lost due to non availability of timely medical aids. The demand of air service was projected during the regime of Congress Government when G N Azad was Union Civil and Aviation Minister. But due to lack of apathy on the part of political hierarchy our long cherished demand of air service remained in doldrums and files were stored in cold storage.
Now, we urge the present BJP-PDP led Government to atleast provide chopper service to Poonch twice a week, if not weekly so that the needy persons are not left at the mercy of God at the time of any emergency, on humanitarian grounds.
