Portal for new units in J&K being launched on Aug 31

JAMMU, Aug 28: As four premier institutions of Jammu entered into a first of its kind Memorandum of Understanding here today, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh said that Jammu is emerging as integrated education model for rest of the country.
“This is very unique thing happening possibly for the first time and the cue is possibly picked up by the people in other parts,” he said while speaking as chief guest on the occasion of signing of multipartite MoU bringing together IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, AIIMS Jammu and Jammu University.
Maintaining that Jammu has proved it has the potential to show the way in emerging as a great integration modal in the field of academic education, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the mantra of success for next 25 years would be to come out of silos and work with an integrated approach.
“As India emerges as frontline nation in the community of world as we plan roadmap for next 25 years when we would be celebrating India’s 100th Independence Day, I think this is going to be essential mantra of success and earlier we understand, it is better for all,” he said, adding that working in silos’ prevents the optimum use of our resources and knowledge and hence collaboration is the new mantra of success.
Dr Jitendra Singh suggested that the coming together of the four education institutions of Jammu should pave the way for wider coordination through similar coordination with other remaining institutions.
Referring to the New Industrial Policy for Jammu & Kashmir as brought out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Jitendra Singh disclosed that on the 31st of August, Home Minister Amit Shah is going to launch a Web Portal for Registration of Units under the “New Central Scheme” for Industrial development of J&K. “This will also be optimally useful only through an integrated approach if we are able to integrate the academic institutions with industry, Start-Ups, private sector, etc,” he added and stressed for involving more stakeholders in the process.
The Union Minister opined that an integrated approach can do wonders and this has been established by several Start-Ups which are more lucrative than Government jobs.
The MoU was represented by Dr Shakti Gupta, Executive Director AIIMS Jammu, Professor B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu and Dr Manoj Singh Gaur, Director IIT Jammu. President AIIMS Jammu, Professor Y K Gupta and Chairman Board of Governors IIM Jammu, Dr Milind Kamble were also present on the occasion.
The MoU aims at creating an academic think-tank to give new opportunities to the Faculty and students and promote integrated learning among the scholars.
The MoU between IIM Jammu and AIIMs Jammu was signed by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and Dr Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS. The Tripartite MoU between the institutions was signed by Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, Dr Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu and Dr Shakti Gupta, Executive Director and CEO, AIIMS.
Prof B S Sahay talked about the integration of technology, medical sciences and management helping in the blended learning, as is one of the key objectives of the National Education Policy 2020, and how it will lead to enhancement of multidisciplinary education.
Dr Milind Kamble, in his address, called Jammu a hub of higher education and highlighted the great academic potential of the historic collaboration between the institutes.
