Jammu Engineers, Architects celebrate Concrete Day

JAMMU, Sept 15: An impressive function was organized to celebrate Concrete Day here the other day. It was organized by Ultratech in collaboration with Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) at, Greater Kailash, Jammu.
The event was graced by the presence of Rajan Mengi, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu, as the chief guest who threw light on how concrete has played a vital role in shaping our cities and societies, enabling the construction of bridges that connect communities, skyscrapers that touch the sky and highways that facilitate commerce and travel.
He raised concerns regarding environmental challenges associated with the concrete production like rising carbon footprints and depletion of resources. He discussed about the role of engineers and architects in this modern era to create a more resilient and sustainable environment.
The event also witnessed the enlightening lecture delivered by Dr Anurag Mishra, Chairman ICI and Prof Civil Engineering Department in IIT Jammu, who discussed about “Importance of Cover Zone Properties & Their Assessment”. The lecture shed light about good practices which are required to be followed during construction of reinforced concrete structures and the importance to maintain proper cover zone during concreting. He further elaborated about its impact on the durability of concrete structures.
Others prominent personalities present were Dr SK Gupta, HoD Civil Engineering GCET Jammu, Mohit Mahajan, Chief Engineer from PWD R&B, Rajesh Gupta, Chief Engineer from PWD R&B, Rahul Goel, Zonal Head Ultratech North B, Mukesh Jha, Deputy General Manager Ultratech North B, Dr. Vijay Singh Rathore, Regional Head Sales Ultratech J&K, Vishal Thakur, Regional Head Technical J&K.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of Architects and Engineers from different areas of Jammu Province. The event was moderated by Isha Binodha.
