JAMMU: The farmers in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir have started praying for rains while the Meteorological department has predicted that the Western Disturbance may hit the state by January end, bringing the dry spell to an end.
A spell of rainfall which was expected in the month of November and December is already delayed and worrying the farmer fraternity as the standing wheat crop and seasonal vegetables need rain water.
“Still there are no chances of fresh spell of rains at least for another 10 days and the weather to remain dry with foggy days,” Sonam Lotus, director, Met section here said.
He said the atmosphere will remain normal but dry and no ‘Western Disturbance’ around, which will hit the state by end of this month.
“Farmers still have to see dry days ahead but likely to get respite after January ending,” said Dr Lotus.
Meanwhile farmers in Jammu are worried with no signs of fresh spell of rains in the coming days.(Agencies)
