Jammu film ‘Stage’ nominated for international awards in Italy

JAMMU, Apr 11: A Hindi film made entirely by artists from Jammu has been nominated for three awards at the Robinson Film Festival in Italy.
As per a statement, the film titled “Stage” has been nominated in the categories of “Best Experimental Film”, “Best Actor”, and “Best Costume”.
Directed and produced by Kartikey Sehgal, the statement said, the film features veteran theatre artist Naveen Chopra in the lead role.
He has also been nominated for Best Actor at the festival, the statement said.
The cast includes senior actor Vageesh Sharma along with newcomers Komal Soni, Zerish Firdous, Tamanna, Seema Katoch, and Avnish Sharma.
While the dialogues are maily in Hindi, the film also includes references to the Dogri language.
The film has been shot largely by violinist and sound engineer Amarjeet Jandhu, while editing and grading has been done by Wickki Koul.
Stage has already received an honourable mention in the “Best Experimental Film” category at another film festival in Italy, and was also selected for an independent film festival in Lahore.
The film is set to be screened in Mumbai from June onwards.
The recognition has brought pride to the artistic community in Jammu, with many seeing it as a sign of growing local talent making a mark on the global stage.
