Jammu fragmented by those who boast of being savior of it: AAP

JAMMU, Feb 8: Commenting on the proposals of De-limitation Commission for J&K, the AAP Jammu today came heavily on those who boast of being savior of Jammu by beating their chests, as twin border Districts-Poonch & Rajouri have been fragmented and attached with Anantnag District of Kashmir Province.
In a press release, Jammu AAP demanded that Poonch-Rajouri Districts instead of attaching with Anantnag, should form a separate-third Lok Sabha constituency comprising of Districts of Reasi, Poonch & Rajouri leaving behind two Lok Sabha seats comprising of Districts of Kathua- Samba – Jammu and Districts of Udhampur, Ramban, Doda & Kishtwar by making amendment in the Constitution of India as also Peoples Representation Act of India, in the larger interest of people of the region.
The party alleged that the De-limitation Commission has apparently taken care of ruling dispensation rather than democratic rights and democratic Institutions of the country.
Citing examples, AAP said the compact area of Sub-Division Thathri of District Doda comprising of 5 Tehsils of its own, situated along NH 44, with two more Tehsils on its right & left at a distance of 4 kms- Dhrabshalla & 14 Kms-the Mahalla, which not only deserves a separate Assembly constituency but also District HQ status, has completely been wiped off its identity and attached with left or right-Doda- Bhaderwah & Kishtwar constituencies without any regard to the hardships & problems of general masses. AAP also smelled a rat over including “Poochhal” Patwar Halqa with a huge population of 10,574 souls with Paddar adding that this move is just to keep the poor electorate of Paddar Sub-Division & Tehsil Nagseni under the Thumb which is being done ever past 7 decades.
The AAP Jammu appealed to the Chairperson De-limitation Commission to grant due regard to the Constitutional provisions with due consideration to most hilly, inaccessible and snow bound areas for grant of representation in Assembly & accord reconsideration of the whole exercise so that it is virtually a democratic process and not an event to enhance interests of a particular Party.
