Jammu Heritage Society holds meet

JAMMU, Nov 23: A meeting of Jammu Heritage Society was held here, today under the chairmanship of its president, Bhuvneshwar Gandotra to deliberate upon celebrations of World Heritage week from today by the Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society.
The members expressed satisfaction that their demand of celebrating the World Heritage Week has been accepted by the Government. Gandotra, while complimenting the Director Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society, Deepika Sharma for her keen interest and efforts in taking on war front development of Mubarak Mandi, the erstwhile seat of power of Dogra Maharajas of the State, said however the sanction of Rs 60 crore is a small amount for the development works undertaken at this stage. More funds and a great pact is desired to preserve this monument, he added.
He said the proposal of lighting of outer wall of the complex facing Tawi river should be immediately started. The illumination will add to the beauty and a wonderful view to watch from Bahu Fort , Bagh-e-Bahu and tourists and for pilgrims traveling in trains from Jammu to Katra and Udhampur.
The development and preservation of three entries to the complex will add to the charm of the Mubarak Mandi complex, he added.
