JAMMU : Jammu continued shivering with the mercury dipping five degrees below normal and no respite in sight from the prevailing cold conditions.
The temperature which recorded season’s minimum 4.5 degree Celsius yesterday and had improved on December 20 with temperature recording 5.7 degrees Celsius, dipped again today. “There will be no respite from the chill in the coming days and due to western disturbances, the cold weather conditions will further intensify,” the weatherman said. The government has ordered closure of schools from December 26 to January 3.
People, particularly, the roadside vendors were seen burning firewood.
Due to dense fog, flights and trains were also delayed. Jammu, yesterday, recorded minimum temperature of 4.5 Degree Celsius and maximum was 11.8 degree Celsius, which was five degree below the normal.
“There is possibility of light rain and thundershowers by this evening,” he added and said the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 11 degree and 6 degree Celsius. He also predicted light to moderate rain, snow at many places in next 24 hours.
