JAMMU : The 300-km long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, the only road link that connects Kashmir with the rest of country, remained closed for the second consecutive day today due to landslides triggered by snowfall.
No traffic was allowed from Srinagar and Jammu today as a precautionary measure due to landslides triggered at various places on the highway due to snowfall and rains, a traffic police officer said.
The highway was closed yesterday due to snowfall at Jawahar tunnel and Patnitop areas en route.
Men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) are working to clear the highway for traffic, he said.
Meanwhile, Jammu-Doda-Kishtwar highway, which was also closed for traffic yesterday, was opened for light motor vehicles (LMVs) today, he said. (AGENCIES)
