Jammu to be developed as heritage city: Sethi

JAMMU, Apr 16: Reiterating his resolve to pursue the agenda of growth and development being adopted by Narendra Modi led NDA Government at the Centre, senior BJP leader Yudhvir Sethi today said that Jammu city would be developed as heritage city of the country to make it as one of the important tourist destination of the nation.
“Being a capital city of the erstwhile Dogra ruler of Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu city has huge potential  to develop as heritage city of the country”, Sethi said in a statement and added that efforts already being initiated by the State and Centre Government in this regard. He said that sincere efforts are being made to develop basic tourism infrastructure in the city to facilitate tourists.
Senior BJP leader mentioned as first step to facilitate tourists and parking slots in Jammu city have been development with adequate drainage system and lightening. Sethi said that Commissioner of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) Soujanaya Sharma  and Vice Chairman of the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Mubarak Singh had visited parking slots of the city namely Jewel, Purani Mandi, Super Bazar, Parade, City Chowk a  couple of days back. “During the visit the officers were informed about lack of basic infrastructures in these parking slots and these officers acted swiftly and provided basic infrastructures in these tourism spots.
Mr Sethi further said that heritage buildings situated in the city would be properly developed and protected and a blue print in this regard would be made available very soon.
