Jammu as tourist destination

Sir,
In connection with various news items published in DE regarding promoting Jammu as independent tourist destination, I would like to say that entire Jammu province possesses everything for its promotion as independent tourist destination. All that we need is to give it a practical shape and wide publicity in tourist circles. It is very sad state of affairs that we could not do any thing. This land has multidimensional potential to attract tourists such as historical and archeological aspects, rich religious tourism potential and vast areas of hill stations and water bodies for general tourism. If we concentrate on single religions pilgrimage tourism we can attract lakhs of tourists in the City of Temples and other shrines at Sudhmahadev, Mantalai, Sukrala Mata, Shiv Khori, Budha Amar Nath, Baski-Nag Temple, Machail Mata Yatra, Sarthal, Kailash Kund, Dera Top, Budha Kedar Nath etc. Similarly Muslim Shrines situated in ‘Hill districts also can attract lakhs of devotees throughout the year. The remains of Kingdoms of twenty two Dogra Hill states of Jammu can also be developed and highlighted on the tourist map of India. Mantalai and Sudhmahadev area which has more than ten ancient religious heritage sites and temples can be the biggest  religious tourism hub if properly developed. The  natural beauty of hill stations of Kishtwar, Bhaderwah, Patnitop, Sanasar, Jug-Dhar, Natha-top, Mantalai, Dudu Valley, Billawar, Poonch and Rajouri needs special attention of Govt for promotion of independent tourist circuits. Let us start from Sudhmahadev-Mantalai by sanctioning “Religious Pilgrimage Tourism Development Authority” and see the wonderful results on the ground.
Yours etc….
