JAMMU, May 6: Launching scathing attack on BJP leadership from Jammu, senior Congress leader and former minister Raman Bhalla today alleged that BJP has sold pride of Jammu for the sake of power in every respect.
Addressing a public meeting in Bhour Camp area of Gandhi Nagar constituency today, Bhalla said that BJP leadership from Jammu has virtually sold the honour and pride of Jammu. They compromised every time and surrendered all the core issues. They failed to watch the interests of Jammu people and for the sake of power and money, surrendered all the issues. They have damaged the Jammu people badly during last three years of regime and proved them self as liability on the people of Jammu.
Bhalla said BJP-PDP Govt has miserably failed to provide drinking water, adequate power supply and ration to the general public. The people of this area are facing acute shortage of water for the last more than nine month and concerned MLA and the concerned PHE staff failed to mitigate the sufferings of the people. He pointed out that unprecedented power and water crisis in the whole State in general and Jammu province in particular, was result of the failure on the part of present Government.
He said Jammu city alone, having a population of around 15 lakh, has been facing the shortage of two million gallons of water daily. The State’s peak demand for power has grown by over 8 per cent from 2011 to 2015, but the department has failed to upgrade its infrastructure.
Claiming that BJP has deviated from its agenda and core issues, former Minister emphasised both the coalition partners have not honoured the mandate of the people of the State. Bhalla said that the people were finding themselves at the cross roads of history with lack of direction and will to govern compounding the grievances of common man manifolds. He said that the hope of inclusive development and political reconciliation have been taken over by despair, as the unholy PDP-BJP alliance has been failed to satiate the urges and aspirations of people.
Bhalla said that Govt is shying away from its duty to conduct ULB and Panchayat elections. Formation of ULBs are must to empower the people of urban areas, he said and added that in a democratic system it was necessary to make representative character of all democratic institutions.
