NEW DELHI, Aug 17: Manish Singh Jamwal, a resident of Jammu city who is promoting Dogra culture through Turban, was recently honoured with “National Youth Icon Award” by Union Minister for Heavy Industries Mahendra Nath Pandey at Maharashtra Sadan, New Delhi.
The award was presented in the presence of Union MoS for Social Justice & Empowerment Ramdas Athawale, Papua New Guinea Country High Commissioner, New Delhi- Paulias Korni OBE, Consul General Montenegro Country Dr Janis Darbari, Ex-Governor Mizoram Amorak Rattan Kohli and other dignitaries.
The whole event was jointly organized by the National Youth Awardees Federation of India and the National Youth Forum of India on the eve of International Youth Day. Seventy-five youth icons from whole country were honoured on the occasion for doing the spectacular work in their respective fields and the young boy of Jammu, Manish Singh Jamwal, who is also known as Youngest Dogra Turban Expert, J&K was also honoured.
Jamwal received this honour by wearing his cultural Dogri styled Turban and thus, creating awareness among people came from all over the country about the significance of Dogri Culture. He said that his aim is to make the youth aware of the dying Dogri culture and traditions so that they can also help to make alive Dogra culture all over the world.
He is an expert in tying turbans in different styles and has been honoured with many awards including Shaan-e-Duggar Award 2018, General Zorawar Singh Memorial Award-2021, Gandhi Seva Puraskar-2021 and others in many functions.
