Jammu’s Muskaan elected as Asia Rep for C’wealth YC

JAMMU, Sept 24 : Muskaan Anand, an impassioned conservation researcher and visionary youth leader hailing from Jammu, has been elected as the Asia representative for the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC).
Muskaan emerged as one of the ten distinguished members representing 56 Commonwealth nations. This esteemed council comprises a Chairperson, three Vice Chairpersons, five Regional Representatives, and one Special Interest Group Representative. Notably, the Asia Representative role has returned to India after a seven-year hiatus, marking a significant milestone. Muskaan will officially take her oath at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Samoa this October.
As the National Convener of a pan-India organisation Students For Seva (SFS), Muskaan has spent the last eight years fervently mobilizing youth across India to confront and address critical societal issues. Her transformative initiatives focus on raising awareness about menstrual hygiene management among marginalized communities, providing free elementary education to underprivileged children, and supporting visually impaired youth, among numerous other service initiatives. A dynamic activist since her university days, she has led several pivotal student movements, driven by her unwavering commitment to Seva, which embodies the essence of selfless service.
Muskaan holds an Integrated B.Sc. M.Sc. Degree in Zoology from the School of Life Sciences at the Central University of Jammu. Her extensive fieldwork includes collaboration with the Wildlife Research & Conservation Foundation in Srinagar, J&K, as well as a significant research project at the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISC) in Bangalore, where she meticulously studied the impact of altered forest environments on bird species in Arunachal Pradesh, Northeast India.
