POONCH, May 2: Former MLA and Provincial president of Youth, National Conference, Ajaz Jan conducted a comprehensive tour of the upper areas of Mandi Tehsil in district Poonch to assess the damages inflicted upon the residents due to recent incessant rains.
During the tour, it was observed that several areas suffered significant losses. Panchayat Chikri Ban Mohalla Ratankata W. No 5 witnessed substantial damage to houses, while the Barachar to Markot Link Road was completely destroyed. Additionally, numerous houses in Bedar Panchayat were damaged, alongside the roads in Gagrian and Sawjian. The losses in Loran, Batalkot Panchayat, Wandtantrya Panchayat, and Sib Panchayat were also notable.
Furthermore, the communities in Baila Panchayat and Balnoi and Dunnugam reported considerable losses to their homes.
Jan highlighted the urgent need for Government intervention to aid the affected residents. He emphasized that several houses were completely destroyed during the incessant rains, leaving many families vulnerable and displaced. He urged the Government to extend the benefits of the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (PMAY) to these families to facilitate their rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.
The NC leader called upon the Government to promptly constitute assessment teams to evaluate the losses incurred and prioritize compensation for the affected individuals. He stressed the importance of swift action to enable the affected communities to rebuild their homes and regain stability.
In addition to these concerns, he also highlighted that the Mandi-Loran and Mandi-Sawjian roads were severely damaged, further exacerbating the challenges faced by the residents.
He reaffirmed the commitment of National Conference to stand in solidarity with the affected communities and work tirelessly towards their recovery and welfare.
