Jandial, Kashkari selected for Pt Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Award

JAMMU, Sept 22: Former Commissioner Secretary to State Government and a well known columnist, K B Jandial and Vijay Kashkari a freelancer associated with community magazine Naad published by All India Kashmiri Samaj New Delhi will be conferred this year’s Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Amateur Journalist Award.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of the Award Committee of the Trust which was held here today under the chairmanship of Prof P N Trisal a renowned scholar.
Four names were in the penal and out of them the Committee selected names of K B Jandial and Vijay Kashkari for their contribution in the field of journalism.
The jury, while selecting the names of the two for the prestigious award which has been given for last three decades now to amateur journalists highly acknowledged the contribution of Jandial in the field of journalism. It said his bold writings on current situation in the country as well as the State in an impartial way are thought provoking and well informative.
While clearing the name of Vijay Kashkari the jury said that he has always projected the issues of community in the Naed Magazine and also kept tab with all the professional institutions in the country which were giving admissions to the migrant students to publish the same information through the magazine for the benefit of the displaced youth. This information has proved of immense advantage to migrant youth putting up in different parts of the country, it added.
The meeting among others was attended by Advocate Kashmiri Lal , Shiban Khibri a well known writer, Virender Raina, president PK, Pardeep Koul Khudbali, Adarsh Ajit An art critic, Shadi Lal, Sundri Lal Koul and Dr M K Bharat members of the Trust.
It may be recalled Pt Prem Nath Bhat a KP leader who was assassinated by terrorists in his native village in Anantnag in January 1990 was also a free lancer who was also a regular contributor to Daily Excelsior. He through his writings had apprised the Government of that time about the coming dangers through is articles which proved prophetic later.
