JAMMU, Oct 18: Demanding Sub-Division status for Jandrah, State general secretary of BSP and candidate for Nagrota constituency, Rakesh Wazir today said that Jandrah deserves Sub Divisional headquarters.
In a public meeting held at Kanyala near Jandrah today, the BSP leader appreciated the efforts of the Jandrah people who launched a massive agitation and stood against the police atrocities. It is the result of their struggle that Jandrah was now accorded tehsil status.
Mr Wazir said it is surprising that the places having less population and importance and even without the demand of the people of those areas, were made sub divisions but Jandrah with having all the credentials and parameters of a Sub- Division was kept out of that provision. He assured that BSP would fight for seeking Sub-Division status for Jandrah. He sought support of the people and said that he would continue his fight for the same. He congratulated the people of the area for getting Tehsil status for Jandrah.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included Gardhari Lal, Mohan Lal Dingra and Block president Munshi Ram.
