Janipur police nabs intra-state drug suppliers with intoxicants

JAMMU, May 7: In a drive to save the youth from drug abuse, Janipur police today nabbed two intra-state drug suppliers with large quantity of intoxicant capsules and tablets from Paloura area.
As per police sources, on specific information about smuggling of drugs, police team from Janipur police station laid a naka near Paloura and signaled a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02H-2794 to stop.
On seeing police team, the rider speeded up the motorcycle and tried to escape, but the vehicle was chased and intercepted at some distance.
During checking, police recovered 400 intoxicant capsules and 90 tablets from the possession of rider and pillion rider.
Police team arrested both the accused on the spot and seized the motorcycle.
The accused have been identified as Akash Gupta, son of Inder Parkash Gupta and Tarun Gupta, son of Kamlesh Gupta, both residents of Rehari Colony.
The accused were on their way to deliver the consignment to their associates for further distribution among the youth, but their attempt were thwarted by the active cops of Janipur police station.
A case under FIR number 96/15 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Janipur police station and investigation started to arrest other members of the group, who are hell bent to destroy the future of the young generation by engaging them into drugs business.
Police team led by SHO Janipur police station Inspector Ajit Singh made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO West Sandeep Choudhary, SP City Shiv Kumar Singh Chouhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
