JAMMU, Nov 24: Janipur police unearthed thieves-jewelers nexus with the arrested of seven persons including two jewelers and recovery of 20 tolas of stolen gold items.
This was disclosed by Superintendent of Police (SP) City Shiv Kumar Singh Chauhan, while interacting with media persons at Janipur police station here today.
Giving details, SP City said that on November 18 a lady namely Raj Kumari, wife of Vijay Gupta, a resident of Lakkar Mandi, Janipur lodged a complaint with Janipur police station regarding theft of her gold items including two gold bangles of 5 tolas.
Accordingly a case under FIR number 216/14 under Section 454 and 380 RPC was registered with Police Station Janipur and investigation started, SP added.
He further stated that on November 19, Anil Sharma, son of Kusturi Lal Sharma of Lakkad Mandi, Janipur also lodged theft complaint of gold items and a case under FIR number 218/14 under Section 380 RPC was registered with police station Janipur.
During the course of investigation, police arrested Deepak Sudhan, son of Krishan Lal Sudan of Siot, district Rajouri, at present Lakkar Mandi Janipur and during questing he confessed that, he along with his Akshey Gupta, son of Vijay Gupta and Sunny Sharma, son of Ved Parkash, both residents of Lakkar Mandi Janipur committed the theft from the house of Raj Kumari and later sold the gold items to a jeweller namely Raj Pal Singh, son of Charanjeet Singh of Sainik Colony, Chauhan added.
SP further stated that during questioning, Sunny Sharma disclosed that he along with Rahul Goutam, son of Madan Lal Sharma and Nihar Sharma, son of Mohan Lal Sharma, both residents of Lakkar Mandi, Janipur committed theft in the house of Anil Sharma and sold the gold items to jewelers namely Vikas Verma, son of Bodh Raj Verma of Shant Nagar, Janipur and Raj Paul Singh also.
All the accused involved in the nexus were arrested and police recovered stolen gold items including two gold necklace of 6 tolas, two gold rings of 02 tolas, two gold chains of 2 tolas, one gold gents bangle (kada) of 2 tolas, two gold bangles of 3 tolas and two gold bangles of 5 tolas.
Further investigation into the cases is on.
Police team headed by SHO Janipur police station Inspector Manzoor Kohli along with SI Arun Sharma, HC Altaf Hussain, HC Puran Singh Sgct Sadiq Mohammad, Sgct Sanjay Kumar and Constable Iyaiz Ahmed busted the thieves-jewellers nexus under the supervision of SDPO West Shri Ram Ambadkar, SP City North Shiv Kumar Singh Chauhan and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
