Janjatiya Gaurav Divas observed across J&K

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 15: The “Janjatiya Gaurav Divas” was observed across the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory to mark the birth anniversary of iconic tribal leader Birsa Munda, who fearlessly worked for the freedom of India.
As part of the celebrations, meaningful programmes aimed at tribal welfare and development were organized in all the 20 districts of the Union Territory.
REASI: District Administration led by Deputy Commissioner Charandeep Singh celebrated the Divas with the inmates of Tribal Hostel Reasi . He inspected various stalls displaying the cultural history of the tribal community of Jammu and Kashmir.
A scintillating cultural programme by local tribal youth was also presented on the occasion. The programme was attended by  District Tribal Affairs Officer (DSWO) Gulshan Kumar; Warden Tribal Hostel, Talwara Anwar Hussain; PRIs and  prominent people from tribal communities.
SAMBA: District Administration in collaboration with Tribal Affairs Department celebrated the Divas at Thandi Khui. District Development Council member Suriya Begum; Additional District Development Commissioner Tilak Raj Shastri; Additional Deputy Commissioner Suram Chand Sharma were present at the function and witnessed several activities which included singing of patriotic songs, Gujjar folklore, Gojri mushairas and speeches.
KISHTWAR: Department of Tribal Affairs in collaboration with District Administration Kishtwar launched the tribal week celebration at TRC Mughal Maidan.
During the programme, different activities including painting competition, felicitation ceremony and cultural items were presented. The main attraction of the programme was the Khatak Dance by the tribal artists.
RAJOURI: A series of activities were organised in the district and the main program was held at Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel which was presided over by Deputy Commissioner, Rajesh K Shavan.
Among the others, Assistant Commissioner Development, Sushil khajuria; Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Mohd Rashid Kholi; DSEO, Bilal Mir; Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Warden Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel, Staff of ITI Rajouri and others attended the program at Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostel Rajouri.
KATHUA: The district administration organised a programme  at Government Degree College for Women which was addressed by Deputy Commissioner Rahul Yadav. The event unfolded with the highlighting of achievements made with regard to the tribal welfare in the district during the current financial year. During the programme, students belonging to Gujjar Bakkerwal community presented the folklores besides throwing light on the life of great tribal freedom fighter Birsa Munda in India’s freedom struggle and also highlighting the cause of tribals.
DODA: District administration organised series of events to celebrate Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas in coordination with the Tribal Affairs Department. The DDC Vikas Sharma attended the programme at Gujjar and Bakerwal Boys hostel.
RAMBAN: District administration also launched a calendar of week- long activities to celebrate tribal history and heritage.
The officers of different departments involved in the promotion of the welfare of tribal communities  highlighted several beneficiary oriented schemes for the welfare of the tribal folk.
UDHAMPUR: An impressive function was organized by district administration in collaboration with Gujjar & Bakerwal Hostel. Regional Director Survey and Land Records, Nawab Din was the chief guest on the occasion.
At the outset, Assistant warden Gulsher Ahmed presented a welcome address and threw light on the life of Tribal Freedom Fighter, Birsa Munda. During the programme, students of the G&B Hostel also presented a Gojari folk song.
SRINAGAR: The programme was organised under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad and witnessed participation of large number of people of Faqir Gujri and adjacent villages, besides officers of various departments.
During the Programme, mesmerising cultural programmes were presented by the Tribal Artists of the area highlighting the Tribal Tradition and Culture.
ANANTNAG: The programme saw participation of masses particularly members of the tribal community.On the occasion, various speakers threw light on the priceless sacrifices by various tribal leaders on the path of securing freedom for their nation. Various tribal arts and crafts were also displayed during the programme.
PULWAMA: The Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Pulwama, Dr. Sheikh Ab Aziz inaugurated the weeklong programme on Janjatiya Gourav Divas and Janjatiya Gourav Saptah
Among others the programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, concerned Officers and senior citizens of Tribal community and PRIs of the district.
SHOPIAN:  The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani was the chief guest and Joint Director Planning, Khursheed Ahmed Khatana as guest of honour at the inaugural function. Various events were organized to recognise the efforts of the tribals for preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of Indian values of valour, hospitality and national pride.
KULGAM: The district administration celebrated Janjati Gourav Divas at Mini-Secretariat. On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Bilal Mohi-ud-Din highlighted the services and sacrifices rendered by tribal freedom fighters On the occasion colorful cultural programmes were also presented.
KUPWARA: A function was held in DC Office in which officers of administration and members of tribal community participated. Speaking on the occasion, DCImam Din said that the Government is committed to promote the development of tribal communities. On the occasion, members of the tribal community also interacted with the officers and got awareness about various programmes envisaged by the Government for their development.
BANDIPORA: The district administration commemorated “JanJatiya Gaurav Divas” in memory of the tribal Freedom Fighters who made a great sacrifice for the country. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Owais Ahmad was the chief guest on the occasion.
